Engage

Perfect For Guided and Independent Reading

With more than 400 fiction and non-fiction books available, organised by level and book band and written by literacy experts, Engage Literacy is the perfect addition to your existing reading programme.

How does Engage Literacy work?

Engage Literacy offers something for everyone, growing with the needs of each reader.

  • As an additional resource to existing reading programmes, Engage Literacy titles provide extra practice
  • High frequency words are introduced and developed to encourage recognition and can support readers for whom English is an additional language
  • Introduces relevant academic vocabulary in a supportive way to build comprehension and provide tools for written work
  • Longer texts support reading stamina and promote reading for pleasure
  • Perfect for supporting intervention strategies, such as Reading Recovery, or providing extra challenge for more fluent readers
  • The books offer something new and exciting and are great for engaging reluctant readers
Our Reading Recovery pupils work really well with Engage Literacy books. Their banded nature provides an appropriate level of challenge that is both engage and appropriate for learners. The books are bright and attractive and our pupils cannot wait to read them. They also have the bonus of having a fiction and non-fiction book title that the children love!

Raintree's Engage Literacy books have been invaluable in our setting. Some of our SEND learners really benefit from the repetitive nature of the early texts. The non-fiction books at the pink and red levels are age appropriate for some of our older readers still at an emerging literacy stage.
